Echo Calgary is an Alberta-based non-profit organization run by volunteers who are dedicated to building connections through culture, conversation, and community engagement.
We believe that a strong community is built when people have opportunities to meet, share their stories, learn from one another, and participate in the community they call home.
While our roots are connected to Hong Kong, our work extends beyond one culture or community. We create opportunities for Canadians with Hong Kong heritage, newcomers, long-time Albertans, businesses, community organizations, and people from all walks of life to connect with one another.
Our Mission
Our mission is to promote cultural exchange, strengthen community connections, and help newcomers build meaningful relationships in Alberta.
We believe that celebrating your heritage and becoming part of your new home should go hand in hand.
For us, cultural integration is not about leaving your identity behind. It is about bringing your experiences, traditions, and perspectives with you while creating new connections and contributing to the community around you.
What We Do
Echo Calgary organizes and supports a wide range of cultural, community, educational, and social programs throughout the year. Our activities are designed to bring people together, celebrate Hong Kong culture, and create opportunities for meaningful connection.
🎉 Community Celebrations
We organize community gatherings that bring people together across generations, including our Christmas Party, Hong Kong Culture Day, and Lunar New Year Mahjong Competition.
🎬 Arts, Culture & Entertainment
We showcase Hong Kong culture through a variety of creative programs, including movie screenings, music shows, drama performances, arts workshops, handicraft workshops, and cultural exhibitions.
📚 Community & Newcomer Programs
We create opportunities for community members to learn and connect through programs such as immigration talks, community discussions, and educational events.
🎨 Hands-on Cultural Experiences
We believe culture is best experienced by participating in it. Our arts, crafts, and cultural workshops give participants the opportunity to learn new skills, explore Hong Kong traditions, and connect with others in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Across our programs, our goal remains the same: to bring people together through culture and conversation—connecting Canadians with Hong Kong heritage and newcomers with the broader Calgary and Alberta community.
A Community Built by Volunteers
Echo Calgary is powered by people who believe in giving back to their community.
Our volunteers come from a wide range of professional and personal backgrounds. Many contribute their time outside of their regular work because they believe that building a stronger community is something we can all participate in.
From organizing events and welcoming guests to coordinating partnerships and supporting community programs, our work is made possible by people who choose to get involved.
